Whisky Cycle takes the reader to Scotland, where Uli Franz cycled 1500 kilometres. For five weeks he cycled from distillery to distillery to get to know all aspects of whisky making, a 250-year-old craft. His visits to 17 distilleries were combined with tastings and the search for the perfect sip - the perfect dram.

The book goes far beyond an instruction manual for cycling and understanding whisky: it is also a piece of autobiography. It begins with a youthful sin, a drunken stupor at the age of seventeen, brought on by his negligent handling of the legendary VAT 69. The result of this intoxication, a kind of early death, was that he could neither smell nor taste whisky for 20 years.

Since 1987, Uli Franz has published numerous books about China and Tibet. His bicycle stories are real life stories from a fund of 60 years and prove his preference for long-distance journeys on a bicycle. His most recent books are "Satteltanz" and "Die Asche meines Vaters". Uli Franz lives in Chiemgau and on the Dalmatian island of Brac'.
